Experience & Knowledge
Sharing: Dialogues with
Medical Experts from other
countries on the Management
of COVID-19
The anti-COVID-19 medical consultant expert team from the People’s
Republic of China came to Malaysia from 20 April 2020 to 1 May 2020 for
a working visit to share their experiences and knowledge with Malaysian
experts and medical personnel.
With China being the initial epicenter of the pandemic, their experiences
and expertise from facing the outbreak much earlier than Malaysia had
allowed Malaysia to learn a lot from China in terms of its action plan,
strategic planning and how China carried out their prevention and
control measures, targeted screening coverage and clinical management
of suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients, helping Malaysia to
formulate its own strategy and action plan against the pandemic.
The expert team visited Hospital Sungai Buloh and Hospital Kuala
Lumpur, two major designated public hospitals to treat COVID-19
patients, as well as related research institutes. During the visits, the
Chinese expert team held discussions with Malaysian medical personnel
and researchers on issues related to COVID-19. During the engagement,
we also learnt that in China, Traditional & Complementary Medicine
(TCM) participated in the management of all stages of COVID-19
infection.
Malaysia also held international dialogues with Singapore, the United
States of America and Tajikistan via video conferencing to share and
exchange experiences and information on the pandemic.
