COVID-19 MOH Hospital Laboratory Collaboration
Adamant in exploring every opportunity in increasing the national diagnostic capacity, the
Laboratory team was heavily involved in collaboration efforts with other agencies such as
Army Hospital, MOSTI as well as Public and Private Universities in which the partnership and
cooperation had amiably corroborated the expansion of COVID-19 testing across the country.
Also in March 2020, Medical Development Division successfully initiated outsourcing efforts
to 7 private laboratories namely Lablink, Neogenics, BP Lab, Gribbles, Clinipath, Sunway
and Pantai Premier as a strategy to tackle and overcome worldwide high demand of reagent
supply and its concurrent limited supply in the country. As continuous monitoring alerted an
increasing trend of capacity utilisation, second phase collaboration was then set in motion in
October 2020 where a total of 17 private labs were involved.
Further strengthening the COVID-19 MOH Hospital Laboratory response was the
establishment of a steady collaboration with the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) in
transporting laboratory reagents, consumables, equipments and human resources making
the expansion of COVID-19 diagnostic services a smooth process.
