THE INDICATORS FOR MONITORING AND EVALUATION OF THE NATIONAL STRATEGY

The indicators in the current issue of the monitoring and evaluation of strategy for Health For All have been
categorised under the following :
a) Social and socio-economic indicators
b) Health status indicators
c) Specific health problems indicators
d) Health services improvement indicators

These is indicators reflect the national scenario and the derivation and method of computation for some of these
may differ slightly from WHO conventional formulae.

However, all the global indicators (other than those in the farm of policy statements) are to be found in the national
indicators either in their basic form or adaptations of these.

Where relevent, the indicators are disaggregated by geographical entities and sex.

These indicators should be used to monitor and evaluate strategies of implementation of health programmes at the
operational level. It is of utmost importance that programme managers provide periodic feedback as to the validity
and usefulness of these indicators. This will eventually assist the Ministry in the overall evaluation of progress made
towards the national strategy HFA.
